Outside Class Wiki
Spanish is more interactive when it's collaborative. However, students' busy schedules can make it difficult, frustrating, and ultimately counterproductive for them to have to meet together often outside of class. A wiki is something that most students have some experience with. Everybody has used Wikipedia, and even if they haven't written or edited an article, the concept is easy enough.
For the activity posted on this site, students were asked to visit the "Outside-Day Wiki" page on this website. Once there, each student could see which of five groups they were in, and collaboratively plan a day we would spend together outside. To edit the wiki, just double-click anywhere on the page to open a document editing window.
Assignments included preparing activities, writing a weather report, finding music to be played, and making food and snack assignments. Once this was done, other groups made up the minute-by-minute schedule to be followed while outside, and made grammar corrections to the wiki.
